3 Simple Hacks to 10x your Cold Email Response Rates
Try these simple hacks to boost your cold email performance
1. Personalize your outreach
❌ Don't send generic messages like "hope you're doing well" or try building value by saying " we've helped companies like you".
People are too smart to fall for lazy copywriting. To get responses, you truly need to do your research and connect.
✅ Instead, start by using their first name, and then grab their attention with a personalized opening line. If they've recently got promoted, start by congratulating them and showing them you've done some research.
2. Be Quick to Deliver Value
❌ "People don't like to be sold but they love to buy" (Jeffrey Gitomer). One of the biggest mistakes marketers make with cold emails is writing a long sales pitch that is all about the product or service, not the customer.
Keep your outreach short and focus on the customer.
✅ Get to the point by delivering value and focusing on the benefits. State the problem your service solves and show them how.
Try using one of these value prop templates:
"I Imagine you may be struggling with {{address pain point your solution solves}}. Our {{Solution Name}} helps to resolve that easily. {{short_sales_pitch}}.
or
"As a {{prospect’s job title}} in {{prospect’s industry/niche}}, it’s challenging to deal with {{pain point #1}} and {{pain point #2}} every month. But it doesn’t have to be.
{{short.sales.pitch}}"
3. End with a Strong Call-to-Action (CTA)
❌ Avoid using call to actions that send prospects to a sales form, homepage, or anything that requires a lot of effort. We've seen less success when CTA include signup links, 30-minute call requests, or link to a Calendly page.
✅ The goal of a good CTA is to take the prospect to the next step. Try starting small and make sure your CTA can fit within 1-2 sentences.
Examples of good CTAs to try:
"Would you be interested in a phone chat so I could tell you more?"
"Would you be interested in exploring a partnership between our companies? If so, could we schedule a call to discuss potential synergies?"
"Would you be available for a quick 10-minute phone chat next week?"
BONUS TIP: Always make sure you have a quality email list that is valid and includes your target audience. Without a good list, these tips won't be as effective.
